L'Wren Scott: Emotional Issues Must Be Addressed

Posted by William H. Sherman on Mar 23, 2014 | 0 Comments

With the fashion world in shock over the suicide of L'Wren Scott in her New York home, we have been getting more emails than usual about relationship, divorce and family law issues.  Scott's death, which has been reported worldwide, has brought to the forefront issues of emotional stability, financial distress and relationship break-ups.  Media from around the world have been reporting the story.

L'Wren Scott made a name for herself in the fashion world.  She was a famous and talented designer—her clients a virtual “who's who” of Hollywood.  She parlayed her time as a model –working for the likes of Chanel and Thierry Mugler --  into careers as a stylist (most notably for Herb Riits) and designer.  Well-known in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London and Rome, she seemingly had a successful business and a high-profile relationship with rock star Mick Jagger, the lead singer of the Rolling Stones.  They were together for over a decade.

Born Luann Bambrough, she grew up in Utah, the adoptive daughter of middle-class Mormon parents.  There seemed to be few if any indications that Scott was having emotional troubles.  The news media has speculated that an impending break-up with Mick Jagger as well as business troubles led to her suicide.

We at the Sherman Law Group believe that attorneys need to be extra vigilant to ensure that clients going through stressful situations be told that counseling can provide help to navigating difficult emotional issues.  We ask all attorneys to be vigilant and try to be aware of clients' mental states so that if help is warranted, the client is directed to a professional.
