Question: I read your blog about the man who wanted custody of his daughters because his wife drinks too much. It's very similar to my situation. My husband doesn't drink but he's always smoking pot or doing cocaine.
Sometimes when he comes over he'll smell like marijuana and when I ask him about it he just laughs it off and says he can do what he wants. My kids said that when they were at his house in Buckhead they saw him sniffing a white powder. He told them it was for allergies. When we were married he did coke early in the marriage but I thought he stopped doing it. He's in real estate and says everyone in real estate has some kind of drug addiction.
I don't trust him with our kids. I'm scared he'll do something stupid and he could get arrested when they are in the car with him.
My son took a picture of his white powder on an iPhone and my daughter took a video of him smoking what he calls his “Bob Marley cigarettes.” Like I said, he lives in Buckhead and I live in Roswell. I need help.
Answer: The picture and video of your husband doing drugs could be compelling evidence in a custody proceeding. If you prove that your husband is using illegal drugs that could certainly be found to create a dangerous environment for your children. And the fact that he's using them in front of your kids is even worse.
For a recent blog post, we have gotten several responses from readers who have mentioned a spouse, relative or close family friend who is using drugs around children.
