I Got a DUI in Johns Creek: What About Paying My Fines?

Question: I was arrested in Johns Creek for DUI. After a cop pulled me over from speeding.  He said I was going 56 miles over the speed limit.  I don't think I was driving that fast.

I manage some bands and one of my bands was playing at The Drunken Unicorn and another had a gig at Smith's Olde Bar, in Atlanta.  I was driving home one of the drummer's and we got stopped by a Johns Creek cop.

I really didn't have much to drink except for some beers and a vodka and tonic but I was smoking pot all night and I was taking my Xanax.  I pretty much told the cop everything.  I tried to explain why I stumbled when I got out of my car.  I told him that I was injured in the military at basic training.

Now I'm scared that I'll have to pay a large fine.  I can pay a fine but my court date's coming up in 2 weeks and I won't have all the money then.  I'll just have some money.  What should I do about the fines for the DUI?

Answer:  The fines in the Johns Creek Municipal Court are not due at your court date.  You will have a number of months to pay off the fines and court costs.  Fines are traditionally paid through probation.  (The only exception that we have seen is in the Bartow County Municipal Court, where all fines and court costs are payable at the time of the plea.)
