Question: I was reading your blog and I can't believe that a man would even consider suing his ex-wife because he says their kids are not attractive. My friends and I were at lunch talking about it and it doesn't sound like that man would be a good father and he really shouldn't be around the children. Those kids could develop complexes that could really be very harmful. Think about what it would be like for the kids if a father actually brings a lawsuit because they are unattractive.
Do you think a family lawyer should take his case because it just sounds so wrong and he must be so obnoxious? I don't think an attorney should have anything to do with a person like that.
I'm worried that more men think like this and that could be bad. I live in Milton, GA where plastic surgery is prevalent.
Answer: It is really not a lawyer's job to judge someone. We advised him, based on the law and the facts that he provided to us, that he did not have a case under Georgia law and that having he would not be in a good position to modify his child support payments.
We are non-judgmental client advocates who believe that clients should be well-informed and that we should offer guidance for their legal needs.
Interestingly, the comments we have received by email so far on that particular blog post actually were split between scorn and ridicule for the man and those who believed that his wife should have disclosed her plastic surgery procedures prior to marriage. The comments, interestingly, did not breakdown along gender lines. Many men found him to be repugnant, while many women stated that his former wife was dishonest.
